CSRD Directive: publication of the “Omnibus” package and “Stop-the-clock” proposal

On 26 February 2025, the European Commission adopted a set of proposals (the “Omnibus” package) aimed at simplifying EU rules and boosting competitiveness. These proposals include a simplification of (consolidated) sustainability reporting requirements as provided for in the CSRD.

Among the measures proposed is the so-called “Stop-the clock” proposal, under which undertakings that would have been subject to (consolidated) sustainability reporting requirements from 2025 would benefit from a two-year delay.

In view of this postponement and by way of illustration, large undertakings and parent undertakings of a large group that are not public-interest entities (PIEs) would have to prepare and publish (consolidated) sustainability information from 2027 (filing and publication in 2028).

It should be noted that in order to enter into force, the proposed “Stop-the-clock” directive must still be adopted by the European co-legislators, namely the Council and the European Parliament.
